Why Choose Hibiscus Private Hospital

Childbirth should be one of life’s most rewarding experiences
Choosing the hospital where your child will be born is a decision to be made in conjunction with your doctor. There are many reasons why Hibiscus Private Hospital is a good choice.

52Being together through the highlights of childbirth is much simpler for couples who take advantage of the convenience of using a nearby facility like Hibiscus Private Hospital. You’re also more accessible to other family members and friends. Our staff is trained and qualified to make your stay safe and comfortable and to provide support to your doctor or specialist.

51Our delivery facilities are modern and comprehensive and are maintained to a high hygienic standard. As labour gets underway our staff will notify your doctor and prepare you for that special moment. This is the time when you’ll probably appreciate us most.

50The result we’ve all been looking forward to – the safe birth of your child. To encourage the rewarding experience of breast-feeding we allow your baby to stay in your room with you.

Here are a few things to remember:

Make your hospital pre-booking when you are approximately 30 weeks pregnant. Please bring a letter from your attending specialist. Pre-bookings are made on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 10:00am to noon. Kindly contact the Maternity Sister in charge to confirm your booking.

We will assist you at that time with medical aid authorisation, or with the prearrangements necessary for private patients.

Here are a few cautionary tips for expectant moms. This general information, however, is not offered as a substitute for your doctor’s personal advice:

  • Follow good balanced nutritional habits. Remember your baby eats and drinks everything you do.

  • If you smoke, this is a great time to stop since smoking can affect the fetus adversely. If you are pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, avoid drinking alcohol, as this too can harm your developing child.

  • Moderate daily exercise is a good idea, but avoid contact sports and sports with a risk of falling such as horseback riding, mountain climbing or cycling. Walking might be a better option than jogging. Avoid scuba diving.
